Key Responsibilities
As an Online Adjunct Instructor for Healthcare Administration, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Preparing for Teaching:
- Ensuring assigned sections are free from error and all due dates are set appropriately.
- Verifying digital materials are accessible and course(s) are paired correctly with any 3rd-party tools.
- Following approved lesson/unit plans provided by the College.
- Staying informed of current standards related to your instructional area.
- Teaching Assigned Course(s):
- Presenting material in an engaging and positive fashion.
- Maintaining an online classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Providing three synchronous sessions each term, in week one, week four, and week nine.
- Responding to student communication within 24 hours.
- Posting interactive responses to student discussion posts within the LMS at least four times each week and at least once on the weekend.
- Grading all assignments submitted by students within 72 hours.
- Providing robust feedback to help with student success along with grading based on rubrics provided.
- Supporting Student Success:
- Evaluating student progress.
- Reporting high-risk students to the Dean of Online Learning.
- Reaching out to students who are struggling or are high-risk.
- Supplementing student material when needed.
- Referring students to their campus's Academic Dean/Program Director/Student Affairs if additional advising is necessary.
- Maintaining Accurate and Timely Records:
- Maintaining student records and grades.
- Posting mid-term grades within 48 hours of the start of week six.
Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must possess the following qualifications:
- Education:
- A Master's Degree from a nationally or regionally accredited institution, in the discipline of the course.
- Alternatively, a Master's Degree with 18 course hours of graduate-level courses in related subject areas that support curriculum content.
- Experience:
- At least 1 year of online teaching experience.
- Successful completion of the Concorde Online Facilitator Training course.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- The ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and instruct others.
- The ability to read and follow lesson plans or guides, present educational information to participants in a clear fashion, address questions or concerns, and utilize effective training/instructional methods to reinforce learning.
- Access to a personal computer, broadband Internet services, and other hardware/software as determined by the Dean of Online Learning and/or the LMS Administrator.
Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:
- Experience in Canvas: Experience with the Canvas learning management system is highly desirable.
- Online Teaching Experience: A minimum of two years of online teaching experience is preferred.
