As an Elementary School Monitor, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of students while on school grounds. This includes monitoring student behavior and activities during lunch periods and recess, both indoors and outdoors, to maintain appropriate behavior and safety according to established guidelines. You will also direct students in the proper use of school equipment and facilities, prevent and intervene in student arguments or fights, and provide support to instructors and students as needed.
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a High School Diploma and have previous education, training, work, or life experience that provides reasonable evidence of successful performance in similar tasks. A valid Alaska Driver's License is also required. Additionally, you should have knowledge of children's games and outdoor sports, as well as the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or picture forms.
To excel in this role, you will need to possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and parents. You should also be able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions and deal with problems involving several variables in children's play situations. Additionally, you will need to be able to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks to ensure the safety and well-being of students.
