Position Overview – Senior Director, Customer Sales (Southern Region)

arenaflex is seeking a visionary and results‑driven Senior Director of Customer Sales to lead the Southern territory strategy. This senior leader will own the end‑to‑end commercial relationship for our flagship sports hydration brands, directing a high‑performing cross‑functional team to deliver revenue growth, market share gains, and trade excellence across a complex, multi‑channel landscape.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Customer Development & Management

  • Territory Leadership: Serve as the primary strategist for premier retail partners, overseeing the full sales cycle—from annual plan creation to contract negotiation and execution.
  • Team Direction: Lead two direct reports who, in turn, manage critical accounts such as large regional supermarkets and specialty military‑channel distributors.
  • Revenue & Volume Targets: Drive top‑line growth (revenue, volume, share) while tightly managing trade spend, travel & entertainment (T&E) budgets, and promotional effectiveness.
  • Annual Planning & Negotiations: Partner with senior leadership to construct and present annual business plans, securing mutually beneficial agreements that align with arenaflex’s strategic objectives.
  • Customer Storytelling: Craft compelling selling stories that integrate assortment, shelving, pricing, merchandising, and innovation insights to maximize retailer execution.
  • Performance Monitoring: Own regular account health reports, identify gaps, and deliver actionable recommendations to keep the business on target.
  • Administrative Excellence: Ensure all contractual paperwork, new product introductions, and compliance documentation are completed accurately and on schedule.

System Leadership & Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Participate in core system routines (e.g., Customer Core Leadership Teams) to provide transparent updates on plan performance and corrective actions.
  • Partner closely with arenaflex’s broader sales organization and regional bottlers to synchronize goals, share insights, and amplify joint results.
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal marketing, innovation, and supply‑chain partners to feed customer feedback into product development cycles.

Organizational Development & Talent Coaching

  • Leverage the full spectrum of arenaflex resources—including consumer insights, revenue‑growth‑management tools, and digital analytics—to support frontline teams.
  • Mentor and develop direct reports and their extended teams, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and high performance.
  • Manage the department’s T&E budget, ensuring fiscal discipline that supports strategic initiatives.

Essential Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related discipline; advanced degree or MBA preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of direct sales leadership in the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) arena, with a proven track record of selling into national and regional retail channels.
  • Regional Expertise: Demonstrated success managing accounts in the Southeast and Texas markets; deep familiarity with key retailer dynamics and distribution models.
  • Channel Knowledge: Experience with major grocery and convenience chains, especially large‑format retailers, is essential. Prior work with DSD (Direct Store Delivery) beverage operations is a strong advantage.
  • Analytical Acumen: Proficiency in Nielsen/IRI data analysis, advanced Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Office suite; comfort with BI tools such as Tableau, Alteryx, and Power BI.
  • Leadership Skills: Self‑motivated, highly organized, and adept at influencing senior stakeholders across functions and external partner organizations.
  • Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel extensively (30‑50% of time) by car and plane, with a valid driver’s license and clean motor‑vehicle record.

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain a robust network of buyer and divisional manager contacts.
