We are seeking a highly experienced SAP Ariba Integration Consultant to lead and deliver end-to-end integrations between SAP Ariba and SAP ECC/S4HANA, with a strong focus on European VAT compliance, e-Invoicing, and financial integrations. The role requires deep hands-on expertise in IDOCs, payment integrations, remittance advice, and working with multiple third-party systems in a complex enterprise landscape.
The consultant will act as a key integration SME, working closely with business stakeholders, tax teams, finance, and external vendors to ensure compliant, scalable, and reliable procure-to-pay integrations.
Key Responsibilities
SAP Ariba SAP Integration
Strong understanding of European VAT regulations
Hands-on experience with e-Invoicing implementations in EU
Knowledge of PEPPOL and country-specific mandates
Design, build, and support integrations between SAP Ariba (Buying, Invoicing, SLP, Contracts) and SAP ECC / S4HANA.
Configure and manage Ariba Cloud Integration Gateway (CIG) or SAP Integration Suite / CPI.
Implement end-to-end Procure-to-Pay (P2P) and Order-to-Cash (O2C) integration scenarios.
Lead integration of:
Purchase Orders
Goods Receipts
Supplier Invoices
Credit Memos
Payment status & remittance advice
IDOC & Middleware Integration
Design and customize IDOCs for:
ORDERS
INVOIC
REMADV
PAYEXT / FINPAYM
Handle message mapping, transformation, and error handling via:
SAP CPI / PI / PO
MuleSoft / Boomi / other ESB platforms (good to have)
Monitor and troubleshoot integration flows, queues, and failures.
European VAT & E-Invoicing Compliance
Support EU VAT regulations including:
VAT determination
Reverse charge
Multi-country tax scenarios
Cross-border transactions
Implement and support e-Invoicing mandates such as:
PEPPOL
Italy SDI
France Chorus Pro
Germany XRechnung / ZUGFeRD
Spain SII
Integrate SAP with external e-Invoicing / tax engines (e.g. Vertex, Avalara, Sovos, Pagero).
Bank Payments & Financial Integrations
Integrate SAP with banking systems for:
Payment files (ISO 20022, SEPA, SWIFT)
Payment acknowledgements
Bank statements
Configure and manage:
Payment medium workbench (PMW)
DMEE trees
Remittance advice flows
Ensure accurate reconciliation between Ariba, SAP, and bank systems.
Third-Party & External Systems Integration
Integrate SAP ECC with:
External tax engines
Government e-Invoicing portals
Supplier portals
Banking systems
Procurement platforms
Lead API-based and file-based integrations with:
REST / SOAP APIs
SFTP / AS2 / FTP
Support multi-vendor integration landscapes.
Architecture & Governance
Define integration architecture and best practices.
Produce technical documentation and interface specifications.
Perform impact analysis for SAP upgrades and regulatory changes.
Lead integration testing:
SIT
UAT
Parallel runs
Support cutover and go-live activities.
