About the role
Are you a dynamic and commercially astute leader with a passion for the digital grocery landscape? We are seeking a Head of Grocery Marketplace to lead our high-growth grocery business in the UAE. This is a pivotal role within a key business unit, responsible for driving significant revenue growth and shaping the future of our grocery offering.
As the Head of Grocery Marketplace, you will be a critical leader and a senior operator with direct responsibility for growing a significant portion of our revenue. Your role will be intensely commercially focused, requiring a deep understanding of market dynamics, consumer behavior, and digital product evolution. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment, working cross-functionally with diverse teams including Operations, Marketing, Legal, and Product to ensure the successful execution of our strategic vision.
What you'll be doing:
Strategic Leadership & P&L Ownership: Develop and execute the strategic vision for the grocery marketplace in the UAE, taking overall ownership and management of the grocery business to ensure we hit ambitious revenue and profit targets. Achieve financial and growth targets with a sophisticated understanding of how to leverage and trade off commercial, marketing, and operational levers.
Partner Management & Growth: Lead a portfolio of high-value National partners critical to the success of the market. Oversee and actively participate in the pitching, negotiation, and growth of new and existing grocery partners onto the platform, driving expansion and deepening relationships.
Team Leadership & Development: Inspire, mentor, and lead a high-performing team of Account Managers, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement. Empower your team to achieve their individual and collective goals.
Planning & Forecasting: Own the quarterly planning process, collaborating closely with central and local Strategy & Finance teams to develop accurate forecasting, robust monitoring mechanisms, and insightful reporting to track performance and inform decision-making.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work seamlessly with Marketing, Operations, and Product functions to deliver on grocery priorities in the UAE. Drive efficiencies, enhance customer outcomes, and accelerate revenue growth through effective inter-departmental synergy.
Market Insight & Innovation: Stay abreast of industry trends, competitive landscapes, and best practices within the digital grocery sector. Identify new opportunities and drive innovative solutions to maintain our market leadership.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will possess a strategic mindset, exceptional analytical skills, and proven leadership experience with a track record of exceeding financial targets in a dynamic, digital-first environment.
Commercial Acumen & Digital Expertise: 8+ years of progressive experience in commercial-focused roles with significant P&L responsibility, ideally within the digital grocery market or a fast-paced e-commerce/marketplace business. Deep understanding of P&L statements and the ability to strategically trade off between line items to optimize profitability and growth.
Analytical Prowess: A highly analytical individual capable of dissecting complex data, identifying key insights, and translating them into actionable strategies and operational plans. Proficient in using data to drive decision-making and measure impact.
Customer Obsession: A genuine belief in our ability to create services and products that address customer needs and have their best interests at heart. You understand and connect with our customers, using insights to drive product and service enhancements.
Strategic & Tactical Thinking: Able to 'think big' and conceptualize long-term strategic initiatives, while also possessing the ability to execute 'on-the-fly' by understanding the immediate dynamics, interdependencies, and implications of tactical decisions.
Exceptional Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to engage, inform, and gain the support of various internal and external stakeholders. You excel at collaborating and building strong, trusting relationships across the organization through high emotional intelligence.
