Job Summary
As a Pharmacy Technician and Data Entry Specialist at Walgreens, you will be responsible for assisting the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy, including the use of pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, and performing other duties as assigned. You will also be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, resolving customer issues, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
Key Responsibilities
Some of the key responsibilities of this role include:
- Assisting the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy, including the use of pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information
- Filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical tablets
- Verifying medication is accurate and checking for possible interactions
- Assisting pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow
- Reporting prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty and adhering to company policies and procedures
- Providing exceptional customer service, including greeting customers, resolving issues, and answering questions
- Maintaining a clean and organized workspace, including the pharmacy department and cash register area
- Assisting with inventory management activities, including ordering, unpacking, and storing shipments of prescription medications
- Performing other duties as assigned by the pharmacy manager, staff pharmacist, or store manager
Qualifications and Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico)
- Preferred qualifications include six months of experience in a retail environment, previous work experience with Walgreens, and basic math skills
- PTCB certification is preferred, but not required
- Basic computer skills and knowledge of store inventory control are also preferred
