Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Data Center Inventory and Asset Management Technician to join our team at blithequark. As a successful candidate, you will be responsible for performing a range of tasks, including the destruction of data-bearing devices, inventory management, and asset tracking. You will also be required to perform cycle audits, execute incoming and outgoing deliveries, coordinate security escorts for third-party vendors, and document all transactions as instructed by management.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform destruction of data-bearing devices (DBDs) and harvest parts and components of decommissioned devices per procedure
- Conduct cycle audits and execute incoming and outgoing deliveries as instructed by management
- Coordinate security escorts for third-party vendors and document all transactions
- Start warranty claims and process returns on failed equipment
- Perform material movement, including shipping and receiving, and inventory management per standard process
- Ensure detailed physical inventory tracking and organization
- Apply proper customs documentation and regulations for outgoing packages
Security Practices
As a Data Center Inventory and Asset Management Technician at blithequark, you will be required to adhere to our security and data management policies. This includes:
- Complying with security and data management policies
- Raising any security or safety incidents
- Coordinating with security escorts for third-party vendors
- Participating in Task Hazard Analysis (THA) consistently for each task to be performed

- Recognize potential partner impact of external and internal events and issues, communicate potential impact, and plan for influence accordingly
Inventory Management
As a Data Center Inventory and Asset Management Technician, you will be responsible for creating working knowledge of inventory control and inventory management practices and techniques. This includes:
- Performing cycle audits and data remedies to ensure all inventory controls are met
- Resolving inventory discrepancies and reporting errors
- Ensuring detailed physical inventory tracking and organization
- Performing material movement, including shipping and receiving, and inventory management per standard process
Warranty Management
You will also be responsible for warranty management, including:
- Engaging with suppliers to initiate warranty claims when automation is not available
- Processing failed supplier hardware devices using online and other tools, including data processing, packaging, shipping, and receipt of return for Return Merchandise Approval (RMA) devices
- Following all Service Level Agreements (SLAs) associated with the RMA warranty process
Data Bearing Device (DBD) Destruction
You will be required to perform the destruction of data-bearing devices (DBDs) following all Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and blithequark policies as applicable. This includes ensuring DBD serial number matches with the database.
Acquisition and Procurement
You will be responsible for informing management about ordering stock deficiencies and raising any issues to management.
Operational Excellence
We are committed to operational excellence at blithequark. As a successful candidate, you will be required to follow existing procedures to run processes and ensure performance with consistency, accuracy, and timeliness of delivery.
Qualifications and Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- At least 6 months of experience in inventory management, retail, warehouse management, or a related field, or a relevant internship
- Ability to meet blithequark's security screening requirements, including a background check and citizenship verification
Preferred Qualifications
While not essential, the following qualifications are preferred:
- 2+ years of experience in a warehouse or supply chain environment in an IT climate, IT, or logistics, working with heavy-duty material handling equipment (e.g., forklift, pallet jacks, case lifts) for a large enterprise
