Leadership & Team Development
- Supervise daily operations of the claims staff, setting clear priorities, managing schedules, and assigning work to meet service level agreements.
- Recruit, onboard, and retain top talent; conduct regular performance coaching focused on both behavioral competencies and technical expertise.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by championing the use of the Liberty Management System, encouraging critical thinking, and driving standard‑work development.
- Facilitate regular in‑person or virtual claim review sessions, ensuring Special Service Instructions are appropriately addressed.
Claims Management & Quality Assurance
- Oversee a portfolio of commercial property and casualty claims, ensuring accurate investigation, loss assessment, reserving, and settlement within quality standards.
- Approve claims reserves, settlements, and payments that exceed staff authority thresholds, applying sound judgment and regulatory compliance.
- Perform manager‑level file reviews on open inventory, measuring quality, identifying training needs, and driving improvement initiatives.
- Utilize data analytics dashboards to monitor claim production, inventory trends, financial performance, and compliance metrics; translate findings into actionable team goals.
Stakeholder Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for agents, brokers, and policyholders, delivering clear and timely communication.
- Develop and sustain internal and external customer relationships, reinforcing Liberty Mutual’s reputation for reliability and excellence.
- Present claim performance insights and service offerings to existing and prospective customers, supporting business development objectives.
Regulatory & Compliance Oversight
- Ensure adherence to state licensing requirements and Fair Claims Practices regulations across all team activities.
- Stay abreast of emerging legislation, court decisions, and industry trends; proactively adjust team processes to remain compliant.
- Lead initiatives that mitigate risk, detect fraud, and promote ethical claim handling.
Essential Qualifications – What You Must Bring
- Education: Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) or equivalent in business, finance, insurance, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 6 years of progressive experience in commercial insurance claims, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Technical Expertise: Advanced knowledge of commercial property and/or casualty claims investigation, loss assessment, reserving, and the legal/regulatory environment.
- Attorney‑Represented Claims: Demonstrated recent experience handling complex bodily injury claims represented by counsel.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to motivate, develop, and retain talent; strong coaching and performance‑management capabilities.
- Analytical Acumen: Comfortable interpreting data analytics, producing reports, and using insights to drive process improvements.
- Communication: Exceptional written and verbal skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to diverse audiences including agents, brokers, and senior leadership.

- Previous experience in commercial claims within a large, multi‑state insurer.
- Certification such as CPCU, ARM, or AIC.
