Please Read Carefully
I am hiring an algorithmic trading systems engineer to implement execution and backtesting infrastructure for a trading system.
This role is implementation-only.
You will not be designing strategies, defining rules, selecting indicators, or working on decision logic.
All decision-making happens upstream and is treated as a black box by this role.
⸻
What You Will Be Doing
You will be responsible for:
• Implementing execution logic that consumes external decision signals
• Building or extending a backtesting harness
• Handling order simulation / execution flow
• Managing event-driven loops
• Logging, metrics, and run diagnostics
• Ensuring correctness, reliability, and repeatability
You will receive:
• predefined decision outputs
• execution requirements
• risk limits at the execution layer
You will not see:
• the trading ontology
• the strategy logic
• the decision rules
⸻
What You Will NOT Be Doing
This role does not include:
• Strategy design
• Indicator selection
• Parameter tuning
• Machine learning
• Alpha research
• Architecture redesign
• Discovery calls
If you prefer shaping trading logic, this is not the right role.
⸻
Why This Is a Clean, Efficient Engagement
• Scope is fixed
• Responsibilities are narrow
• Expectations are explicit
• No ambiguity or strategy risk
This is pure execution engineering, ideal for someone who enjoys building reliable systems without having to invent the logic.
⸻
Technical Expectations
• Python (production-grade)
• Experience with:
• event-driven systems
• backtesting frameworks
• execution pipelines
• asynchronous or concurrent code
• Clean, modular engineering style
Trading experience is helpful but not required if execution experience is strong.
⸻
Engagement Structure
• Fixed-price
• Small scope
• Short duration
• May be split into milestones
This posting reflects execution effort only, not full system ownership.
⸻
How to Apply
Please include:
1. One example where you implemented execution or backtesting without knowing strategy logic
2. Your fixed-price proposal for this scope
3. Estimated delivery time
Proposals assuming strategy or discovery will be declined.
