Staff Engineer, Payment Intelligence

Remote Full-time
Who we are About Stripe Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career. About the team Payments Intelligence believes that online payments should be simple and scalable for merchants. Our vision is to offer smart authentication solutions that empower our merchants to achieve the most optimum payment performance by balancing regulatory requirements against conversion, costs, and fraud considerations. We envision a future where payments can be authenticated securely, contextually, and with least amount of friction, unleashing limitless opportunities for merchants. We own products like Adaptive Acceptance, Authorization Boost and Radar, building fast and scalable services and creating intuitive user experiences. We serve real-time predictions as part of Stripe’s payment infrastructure and architect controls that leverage ML to optimally manage users’ business. What you’ll do You will join as a Technical Lead for one of the most impactful areas at Stripe. By collaborating with the team’s technical leaders, you will ensure the software your org builds meets the needs of Stripe and its customers. We are a highly effective team that consistently delivers high-impact results while genuinely caring for one another. We expect you to bring your curiosity and critical thinking skills to this challenging domain. At the same time, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to be hands-on building key systems, and will be directly responsible for the successful delivery of large-scale technical efforts as well acting as a technical mentor and leader for Stripe engineers. Responsibilities Help build our next generation Subscription primitives that will power many higher order APIs. Lead by example in designing, developing and delivering optimized, delightful product experiences. Partner with Engineering Managers to create roadmaps that deliver milestones toward a cohesive engineering vision. Establish best practices, frameworks, and repeatable processes that enable us to measure the impact of every feature that we ship. Develop and lead the team to execute against both short-term and long-term roadmaps. Work in a variety of languages and technologies, including Ruby, Java and Typescript. Provide hands-on technical leadership (architecture/design, vision/direction/requirements setting, and incident response processes) for team members. Work with leaders across the company to create and drive toward the longer term vision of Stripe’s services roadmap. Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment, promoting innovation, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement within the team.
