Manager SEC Reporting

Position Purpose: This role provides key leadership within the SEC Reporting function and is responsible for supporting the Chief Accounting Officer’s external reporting strategy. This role manages the planning, development and filing of periodic reports with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, including the quality and timely delivery of the quarterly 10-Q’s and annual 10-K (as well as 8-K, 1933 Act registration statements, and other required reporting), as well as collaboration with Investor Relations during their development of earnings materials (earnings release and earnings script). This position is responsible for driving the evolution of various reporting processes through technology innovation and process optimization, while overseeing the completion of our Form 11-K’s (401K financial statements), as well as other domestic and international statutory filings. Within the overall framework of the SEC Team responsibilities, this position will take on different roles and responsibilities to accommodate their own development over time and also facilitate the development of other associates on the team. The filings led by this function are of the most visible and scrutinized public documents and their presentation and accuracy is critical the Home Depot. This role also oversees the preparation of our cash flow statement, as well as various internal reporting deliverables including materials provided directly to executive leadership and the Board of Directors. Key Responsibilities: • SEC Reporting (Annual Report, 10-K, 10-Q, Registration Statements) • Management and Board of Directors Reporting/Presentations • Technical Accounting Research/Support • Development of Staff • Ad Hoc projects (presentations and/or analysis as requested by senior management) Direct Manager/Direct Reports: • Typically reports to Director of Financial Reporting, Assistant Controller • Accountable for direct supervision of the work activities of others. In addition to personnel issues -- including selection, termination, performance appraisal and professional development of subordinates. Travel Requirements: • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time. Physical Requirements: • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles. Working Conditions: • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable. Minimum Qualifications: • Must be eighteen years of age or older. • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience in Financial Reporting with a large public company • Experience with multi-division, multi-national companies. • Big 4 Public Accounting Experience Required. Strong written and oral communication skills are required. Minimum Education: • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job. Minimum Years of Work Experience: • 6 Certifications: • CPA required Competencies: • Strong knowledge of US GAAP accounting with CPA designation preferred • Robust SEC reporting experience with a global, public company, including proven subject matter expertise (SEC Rules and Regulations including S-X, S-K, 10-Q/10-K and 8-K rules, business combination, pro-forma, and US GAAP Disclosure rules) • Strong public accounting/Big 4 and industry background (retail preferred) • Detail oriented, well-organized with ability to prioritize and problem solve, multi-task, work independently, and meet deadlines • Strong and proven relationship skills /connection with people to be able to interact effectively on a cross functional basis with the ability to explain business activities and complex matters both internally and externally at executive levels • Strong and proven leadership/mentorship skills and development of associates • A Master's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is preferred Benefits offered include health care benefits, 401K, ESPP, paid time off, and success sharing bonus.
