UC San Diego’s Temporary Employment Services department is offering a new opportunity for a Web Applications Developer. The role focuses on the development and maintenance of web-based platforms, ensuring they are user-friendly and aligned with organizational needs while collaborating with stakeholders to gather requirements and implement updates. Responsibilities - Configure and maintain CMS platforms, with a focus on Drupal - Manage users, roles, and permissions - Install and update modules and themes - Modify Drupal themes using Twig templates and CSS - Develop and update responsive website layouts - Apply responsive design principles to new and existing sites - Ensure websites meet web accessibility standards - Optimize media assets (e.g., images) for web performance - Support basic SEO practices and cross-browser compatibility - Meet with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate needs into technical solutions - Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical users - Provide guidance and training on CMS platforms such as Drupal and Google Sites - Troubleshoot issues related to web platforms and event management tools (e.g., Eventbrite) - Upload and manage video content on platforms such as YouTube and Vimeo - Support integration of multimedia content into websites Skills - Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript - Strong understanding of responsive design - Experience working with Bootstrap or similar front-end frameworks - Understanding of web accessibility standards - Familiarity with media optimization techniques - Basic knowledge of web security best practices and cross-browser compatibility - Experience with Google Analytics and Google Search Console - Strong understanding of search engine optimization (SEO) - Familiarity with Apache HTTP Server - Strong communication skills and ability to convey technical information to diverse audiences - Experience with content management systems (Drupal preferred), including customization of themes, templates, and modules - Familiarity with design tools such as Figma or Adobe Creative Suite (preferred) Benefits - Paid holidays - Vacation/sick leave - Full-medical insurance Company Overview - UC San Diego Extension is an online research university for community leaders and professionals.
