Summary
The VP, Philanthropy is an integral part of Rewriting the Codes (RTCs) senior leadership team, leveraging experience and talent for relationship-building and a passion for promoting equity, access, and inclusion in tech careers. This role will lead RTC's strategic fundraising efforts in exponential growth and impact by identifying, securing, and retaining qualified private foundations, wealth managers, and corporate foundations aligned with our mission and purpose while strengthening and maintaining existing partnerships.

This individual will drive a multi-year vision of supporting the next generation of women in tech by building and empowering a dynamic team of professionals focused on securing the resources needed to scale impact.

- Position RTC as the go-to partner for tech philanthropy focused on women's equity
- Build sustainable, diversified funding streams from corporate partners, foundations and individual donors
- Create an operational infrastructure that enables rapid scaling without sacrificing relationship quality
This is a strategic leadership position for someone who understands that the best fundraising is built on authentic partnerships with funders who share RTCs mission. You'll be the architect of RTCs fundraising strategy and the champion of donor relationships at the highest levels.
Essential Functions
Strategic Planning + Execution
- Partner with the CEO to lead strategy, planning, and execution of fundraising initiatives in alignment with RTC's long term strategy to prioritize private and corporate foundations and family funds as well as covering grants, unrestricted operating funds and project-specific funds.
- Design and execute a multi-year fundraising strategy that diversifies revenue streams and positions RTC for growth across institutional and non-institutional funding sources.
- Establish and advise on organizational-wide, multi-year strategy and cross-departmental priorities that ensure all teams are aligned with fundraising goals and organizational growth.
Relationship Management
- Solicit, cultivate, and steward RTC's portfolio of philanthropic funders, from key corporate leaders to prominent philanthropic individuals and organizations, by establishing and expanding on current partnerships and fostering new donor relationships with entities that offer reciprocal benefits to RTC's work.
- Support relationships currently owned by RTC's Board of Directors, with special attention to those owned by the CEO, ensuring continuity and deepening of critical partnerships.
- Utilize strong internal relationships to develop a complete understanding of RTC's unique work, priorities, and funding opportunities.
- Identify and pursue new funding sources aligned with RTC's mission, including corporate foundations, venture-backed CSR initiatives and individual major donors in the tech ecosystem.
Leadership + Operations
- Oversee proposal development, funder reporting and compliance, funder and prospect research and pipeline development, prospect strategy, data capture and analytics, and execute award review and approval processes.
- Increase the team's operational performance by collaborating with RTC's marketing and data analytics team to develop methodologies and tools to drive efficient, scalable, and innovative fundraising strategies.
Required Qualifications
Education + Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Non-Profit Management, Marketing, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in development, with a proven track record of building and executing a long-term fundraising strategy and securing six- and seven-figure gifts from various sources, including foundations, corporations, and individuals.
- Previous experience working in a fast-moving, high-growth non-profit is a huge plus.
Knowledge + Skills
- Demonstrated success in building strong corporate and philanthropic partnerships through a combination of marketing and communication strategies, sales techniques, and relationship building efforts, particularly in the non-profit context.
- Takes an entrepreneurial approach to fundraising, expanding upon RTC's foundational grant success by identifying new funding models, testing innovative revenue streams, and scaling proven strategies. Comfortable with experimentation and rapid iteration; balances respect for what's working with bold thinking about what's possible.
- Knowledge of the issue areas of social justice, women in technology, workforce development, etc.

Strong business acumen with the ability to create strategic development plans, identify and monitor key indicators, adjust plans based on trends and market demands, and present complex programs and concepts in meaningful ways to varied donor audiences to secure new funder partnerships.
- Demonstrated expertise with digital tools and platforms, including CRM and marketing automation tools (HubSpot), cloud-based office suites (Google Workspace), and AI-powered technologies, with a strong propensity to learn and maximize the value of emerging tools.
