Salary: $150,000 - 172,000 per year
Requirements:
• 5 years of backend software development experience in automation, WMS, or industrial system integration
• 7 years of backend development with substantial exposure to automation, PLCs, or robotics
• Hands-on experience supporting automation in warehouse or manufacturing environments
• Familiarity with the impacts of software decisions on physical flow, uptime, and throughput
• Willingness to participate in rotating on-call support for essential systems
• Experience in multi-site rollouts or new facility launches is desirable
• Exposure to SAP EWM-integrated automation projects preferred
• Knowledge of PLCs, robotics, or industrial IoT is an asset
• Understanding of cloud and edge architecture beneficial
Responsibilities:
• Design and implement backend services for controlling and coordinating warehouse automation, including conveyors, scanners, labeling equipment, and routing logic
• Develop software that processes scan data, applies business rules, and directs cartons to appropriate lanes or destinations
• Assess current automation workflows and redesign processes to enhance speed, accuracy, and system reliability
• Integrate enterprise WMS platforms (SAP EWM) with automation systems utilizing APIs, messaging, and industrial protocols
• Support the setup and launch of a new distribution center in North Carolina, overseeing testing, commissioning, and stabilization
• Troubleshoot automation issues in active environments and conduct root-cause analysis across both software and physical systems
• Collaborate closely with operations, controls engineers, and IT to ensure software design aligns with real-world warehouse workflows
