Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop large-scale data architectures and pipelines to integrate, process, and normalize data from diverse sources, driving business insights and reporting needs.
- Create ETL (Extract/Transform/Load) processes, design database frameworks, and develop tools for real-time and offline analytical processing, ensuring seamless data integration and processing.
- Collaborate with data science teams to transform data and integrate algorithms and models into automated processes, enabling data-driven decision-making.
- Leverage your expertise in Cloud, Hadoop, and query optimization to build scalable data pipelines and drive business success.
- Utilize your strong programming skills in Python (or other major languages) to develop robust data pipelines and dynamic systems that meet business needs.
- Build data warehouses and data models to support Information Science and other internal clients, ensuring data quality and accessibility standards are met.
- Analyze current technology environments to identify critical capabilities and recommend solutions that drive business growth.
- Experiment with available tools and advise on new tools to determine the optimal solution based on model/use case requirements.
Essential Qualifications
To succeed as a Senior Data Engineer at Aetna, you will need:
- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Computer Science, Information Technology, or Engineering.
- 5+ years of relevant work experience in Data Engineering, with a strong background in designing and implementing large-scale data architectures and pipelines.
- 5+ years of experience with SQL, with a deep understanding of database frameworks and query optimization.
- 5+ years of experience with Python, with expertise in developing robust data pipelines and dynamic systems.
- Experience with Cloud-based platforms (GCP preferred, AWS or Azure also considered), with a strong understanding of cloud computing and scalability.
- Strong Communication, Critical Thinking, and Problem-Solving skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
