Summary
The purpose of this position is to deliver Project Management consulting services offered by Healthcare Performance Group, Inc. (HPG) in such a way that maintains high customer satisfaction. The consulting services are provided on a substantially full-time, onsite basis and include the Project Management healthcare information systems application implementation (plan, design, build, test and train), application support and application optimization. This position’s target is to maintain billable status at a rate of 1,900 to 2,000 hours per anniversary year. All responsibilities are to be executed in a way that advances the overall HPG culture and our business strategies.
Responsibilities
- Travel to and from customer sites as required by the customer, but typically on a weekly basis.
- Manage travel expenses within HPG’s Travel Guidelines.
- Help clients resolve resource needs with quality HPG expert resources and service line solutions.
- Be an effective team member within the implementation, support and/or optimization team which may include team members from the customer, software vendors and other consulting firms.
- Demonstrate a high level of professionalism in all interactions with customers and any third party personnel.
- Work diligently to achieve project plan milestones. Discuss directly with customers, any obstacles or issues preventing completion. Request support from HPG Team Lead Consultant, Project and Program Management if needed.
- Provide project status reports in accordance with customer requirements and provide copies of all status reports to HPG. If a customer does not require a status report, provide HPG a monthly project status report according to HPG’s format.
- Maintain an updated professional profile for HPG’s Business Development team to use in marketing and selling the consultant’s skills, experience and overall qualifications.
- Prepare and successfully present/discuss their skills and experience during telephone or face to face interviews with HPG customers or prospective customers.
- Request support from any and all HPG Associates to assist with any application or customer issue that may benefit from input from other members of the HPG resource team.
- On an as requested basis, provide support to the Business Development team as a subject matter expert in your areas of expertise.
- Maintain billing for services at an annual rate of 1,900 to 2,000 or more hours per anniversary year in Senior Consultant projects in the Application Services, Support Center or Project and Program Management Services service lines.
- Duties must be performed accurately and timely requiring minimal supervision.
Project Management Specific Responsibilities
- Adhere to Project Charter and update with Customer approval as needed.
- Develop, maintain, and implement Project Plan according to timeline, budget, and success criteria.
- Document and facilitate communication plans.
- Provide routine status reports according to Customer expectations.
- Identify, document, report and mitigate the Risk Registry.
- Track and report issue management through resolution, escalation, and regular status reporting.
- Responsible for all application business systems and services related to the project.
- Responsible for clearly defining problems by collecting complete data, establishing facts, and drawing logical conclusions.
- Remain focused on the overall project objectives and obtaining consensus while facilitating process transformation where needed and while navigating through emotionally charged meetings and situations.
- Responsible for interpreting a variety of technical instructions in written or diagram form and managing many abstract and concrete variables.
- Possess an attitude of being a “utility player” and doing whatever it takes to meet the project milestones and exceed the customer’s expectations.
- Be the Customer advocate with various vendors, always representing their interest while appreciating the vendor’s perspective.
- Adhere to Change Control as defined by the customer.
- Conduct status meetings as applicable, to include chairing appropriate committees.
- Ensure all project documentation is being completed.
- Close the project by validating acceptance by the customer.
- Conduct appropriate closing activities including lessons learned, next phase planning.
- Keep the project team informed, engaged, and motivated.

Skills & Experience
- Minimum five years of healthcare information systems implementation experience.
- Minimum three years Project Management experience, with at least one year of Oracle Millennium Project Management.
- Required to be proficient with Google Suite and both Microsoft operating systems and Office software.
- Experience with Cerner’s Implementation and support methodologies.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal. Including problem solving skills with emphasis on detail and follow-up.
- Ability to work overtime and irregular hours when needed.
- Ability to remain calm, collected and focused on the customer’s project objectives at all times.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of documents and information in accordance with HPG’s Privacy and Information Security Policies and HPG’s Customers Policies.
- Perform duties accurately, timely, and require minimal supervision.
- Ability to work independently, be self-motivated, and demonstrate a “can-do” attitude.
- Ability to follow direction from HPG customers and HPG leadership.
Education & Credentials
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- PMP Certification preferred.
- Clinical education, certification and experience are desirable (e.g. RN, MT, CPhT).
Miscellaneous
- A professional appearance is required.
- Travel as required by the customer engagement, up to 100%.
- At times you may be obligated to comply with client-facing requirements and occupational health requests, including but not limited to, a health screening, an immunization set, current COVID-19 vaccination, current flu shot, TB screen, updated background check, drug screen and/or alcohol screen.
- This position reports to the Director Consultant, Project and Program Management position.
