The Incentive Compensation Data Analyst role involves designing and optimizing Anaplan models for sales incentive compensation programs, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in compensation calculations and reporting. Responsibilities • Design, enhance, and maintain Anaplan incentive compensation models and supporting data structures • Revise and optimize database queries to source, transform, and validate sales production data used in compensation calculations • Execute monthly incentive compensation and bonus payment cycles, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with accounting requirements • Analyze large, complex datasets to identify and resolve calculation or data integrity issues • Develop and apply expertise in Symetra’s products, sales structure, and incentive compensation plans across divisions and channels • Respond to employee and business partner inquiries regarding compensation payments, calculation logic, and reporting • Administer special payments, SPIFFs, and other compensation adjustments with appropriate financial oversight • Partner with stakeholders to gather requirements, recommend improvements, and implement scalable solutions • Build dashboards and reporting tools that improve transparency, insight, and calculation accuracy • Identify and implement automation and process improvements that reduce manual effort and strengthen internal controls • Evaluate and improve model performance, scalability, and structural efficiency • Pursue Anaplan certification and apply platform best practices to strengthen model performance and maintainability Skills • Demonstrated experience building or supporting structured data models or calculation logic in a production environment required • Experience writing SQL queries or equivalent structured data logic to reconcile and validate large datasets required • Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reconciliation required • Strong interest in model architecture, data structure, and system design required • Comfortable explaining complex calculation logic to non-technical stakeholders required • Highly detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy and root-cause problem solving required • High school diploma required • Anaplan Model Builder Certification (Level 1, Level 2, Level 3) preferred • Experience building scalable Anaplan models using best practices preferred • Python or other scripting experience for data transformation, validation, or automation preferred • Experience in insurance or financial services industries, specifically supporting recurring financial or commission payout cycles preferred • Familiarity with accounting processes related to commissions, accruals, and financial reporting preferred Benefits • Flexible full-time or hybrid telecommuting arrangements • Plan for your future with our 401(k) plan and take advantage of immediate vesting and company matching up to 6% • Paid time away including vacation and sick time, flex days and ten paid holidays • Give back to your community and double your impact through our company matching Company Overview • Symetra is a financial service company that provides retirement, employee benefits, group life, and disability insurance.
