The Regional Transmission Planning Engineer 2 is responsible for providing engineering analysis and technical support to ensure reliable operations of the electric power grid while complying with NERC standards and ERCOT market rules. Responsibilities - Understand and apply principles, theories, and concepts related to the engineering profession and ERCOT culture - Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action - Design and perform steady-state contingency analyses using power flow models (PowerWorld, PSSE, etc.) under the direction of a senior-level engineer and/or management - Structure planning studies and sensitivity analyses to determine the need for transmission improvements and to evaluate proposed projects, including technical and financial analyses - Assist, guide, and mentor lower-level engineers, as appropriate - Assist in providing input and analyses on market rules issues related to transmission planning, as appropriate - Assist in providing market simulation/forecasting and transmission planning analyses to support other ERCOT activities, as appropriate Skills - Minimum 1 year of experience as a power system engineer or similar type role - Bachelor's Degree: Electrical Engineering or related field, or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields - Experience within the electric utility industry - Professional Engineer Company Overview - The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) manages the flow of electric power to 24 million Texas customers.
