About the Department

Cabrillo College is seeking a Regional Director, Advanced Transportation, who under direction is responsible for facilitating and leading collaborative efforts by colleges in the Bay Area Community College Consortium (BACCC) and workforce development partners to achieve the region’s workforce development goals and the California Community College system’s Vision for Success goals. The Regional Director convenes collaborators to review labor market, student outcomes, and other data; review subregional, regional, and state goals and priorities; convenes collaborators to determine how to work together, invest resources and design projects to close labor market gaps while meeting equity goals; collectively set priorities, develop and implement, work plans and identify performance indicators to achieve Regional Plan goals; secure resources as needed with the support of the collaborators; perform project management duties including work plan tracking, implementation, progress reporting and outcomes analysis; and perform related duties as assigned.

The Regional Director for Advanced Transportation:

Advanced transportation refers to the application of innovative technologies, such as intelligent transportation systems, automated vehicles, and electrified infrastructure, to enhance the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of moving people and goods. In the Bay Region, top labor market opportunities include Electric and Diesel Bus Maintenance and Repair Technicians and Aviation Maintenance Technicians. Priority career pathways include Transportation Equipment and Repair and Aviation Maintenance.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Salary:

Full-time administrative/management assignment (223-day work year), 12 months per year, Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., with evenings and/or weekends as needed. Current eight-step schedule ranges from $106,367 to $149,669 per year. Salary placement is determined by documented education and experience.  A doctoral stipend of $4,885 per year is provided to eligible employees. Position scheduled to begin as soon as possible, pending continuation of categorical funding and Governing Board ratification. Cabrillo is unable to sponsor work visas.

Benefits:

Cabrillo College currently provides a generous benefit stipend for employees plus dependents that employees apply towards benefit selections for medical, dental, life, and short-term/long-term disability insurance provided at a share of cost on a pretax basis, PERS Retirement, and an employee assistance program (EAP). Additionally, employees have the option to enroll in vision insurance at a discounted group rate.  Depending on health plan selections, in many cases, full-time employee net out-of-pocket for benefit premiums may be as low as $0.

Classified administrators are required to join the Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS) and, as such, must contribute 8% of their monthly salary to PERS on a pre-tax basis. Please see the Benefits link on the HR webpage for more information.

Work-Life Balance:

This opportunity is a full-time assignment, 12 months per year.  Cabrillo administrators enjoy a 223-day work schedule, which equates to an average of 19 self-selected non-work days, 19 set holidays, 3 individual responsibility days off annually, 12 days of sick leave accrue annually, 7 days of which can be used as Personal Necessity.
