Job Summary
As a Product Reliability Engineer on our DCP team, you will work on a part-time remote basis to analyze complex technical issues, identify patterns, and develop solutions to improve the reliability and performance of our services. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product, and support, to drive meaningful impact and deliver high-quality results.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership: Provide high-level technical support and troubleshooting for escalated issues, ensuring timely and effective resolutions.
- Data-Driven Insights: Use data-driven insights and analytical techniques to analyze complex technical issues, identify patterns, and develop actionable recommendations.
- Process Improvements: Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation through data analysis, reducing the occurrence of technical issues and improving overall service efficiency.
- Validity and Reliability Reviews: Perform validity and reliability reviews of new internal products/services or feature launches.
- Collaboration and Communication: Proactively share insights and data with Product and Engineering teams on service performance, client friction, and experience trends.
- System Analysis: Apply systems analysis techniques to internal services at Netflix, including writing complex SQL statements and joins, and creating visualizations to tell stories.
- Cross-Functional Relationships: Foster strong cross-functional relationships with colleagues across Studio, Corporate, Security, Creative Production, Data Engineering, Analytics, Support teams, and others.
- Proactive Monitoring: Proactively monitor service performance, analyze data, and identify potential issues before they impact client experience.
- Continuous Learning: Learn new tools, systems, and technologies quickly as required by your domain or project.
- Incident Management: Participate in episode management and post-incident reviews, driving continuous improvement and prevention of recurring technical issues.
Requirements and Qualifications
Essential Qualifications:
- Data Analysis: Ability to collect and analyze various data points (qualitative and quantitative) and distill that data down to the most striking insights for the business.
- Big Data Experience: Experience with big data technologies, such as SQL, Apache Spark, and Python.
- Data Visualization: Experience with data visualization tools, such as Tableau or Power BI.
- Collaboration and Communication: Ability to build effective relationships with partners and leaders across the organization.
- Technical Support: Experience providing technical support for applications/services and infrastructure.
- HTML/HTTP/REST Basics: Understanding of HTML, HTTP, and REST basics.
- Issue Tracking Systems: Experience with issue tracking systems, such as Jira or Zendesk.
- Analytical Mind: Strong analytical mind and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Programming Experience: Experience creating scripts in any programming language.
- Cloud Experience: Experience working with cloud-based technologies, such as AWS or GCP.
- Containerization: Experience with containerization technologies, such as Docker.
