About the Role
We're seeking a highly skilled Data Science Principal Engineer to join our Verizon Consumer Group - Omni Planning & Ops Orchestration Executive Business Intelligence team. As a key member of our Executive Business Insights team within Omnichannel Analytics (OCA), you'll play a critical role in driving business growth through data-driven insights. This is an exceptional opportunity for Military personnel who are current participants of the Department of Defense Skillbridge Program or the Hiring Our Heroes Corporate Fellowship Program Cohort 1-2023.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop analytical views of data using various BI tools such as Tableau, QlikSense, Looker, and proprietary web-based applications.
- Connect and stage data from multiple locations to create visualizations that drive business insights.
- Strategize, oversee, and document multiple projects with evolving timelines, ensuring timely completion and resource planning.
- Collaborate with business leads and IT to execute visual design stages, from concept to final hand-off to business unit end-users.
- Conduct user acceptance testing with IT to ensure database and application quality prior to production release.
- Establish and promote Verizon brand standards and best practices across business units and IT.
- Document and demonstrate solutions through wireframes, production documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, and/or models.
- Review existing visualizations to identify opportunities for improvement and drive a best-in-class User Interface solution.
- Work with large datasets to build proper visualizations and setups for diverse users with varying levels of complex data comprehension.
What We're Looking For
You're a detail-oriented, numbers-driven individual who loves digging into data to uncover insights. You're a self-starter with a passion for designing reports and dashboards that drive business decisions. To succeed in this role, you'll need:
- Current participation in the Department of Defense SkillBridge Program or the Hiring Our Heroes Corporate Fellowship Program Cohort 1-2023.
- A Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
- Three or more years of relevant work experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or a related field.
- Strategic Planning experience and proficiency with BI tools such as Tableau, Qlik, and Looker.
- Experience investigating and solving complex technical problems and data discrepancies.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Bachelor's Degree in business, marketing, information systems, analytics/business intelligence, engineering, mathematics, statistics, or a related technical discipline.
- Leadership experience and a proven track record of driving cross-functional teams to achieve results.
- Experience with Business Intelligence systems, Teradata (Data Warehouse) data domains, and data.
- Call Center and Digital experience.
