Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Medical Billing & Coding Specialist with proven experience working with Athena and Privia electronic health record (EHR) systems. In this vital role, you will be responsible for accurately coding medical procedures and diagnoses, managing billing processes, and ensuring timely collections. Your expertise will help streamline revenue cycle management, improve documentation accuracy, and support the financial health of our healthcare organization. Duties • Review and analyze medical records to assign appropriate ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) codes • Ensure accurate coding of diagnoses, procedures, and services in compliance with regulatory standards • Prepare and submit clean claims to insurance companies using Athena and Privia EHR systems • Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through medical collection efforts to maximize reimbursement • Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility prior to billing processes • Maintain detailed documentation of billing activities, coding changes, and collection efforts • Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation discrepancies or coding questions • Stay current with updates in medical terminology, coding guidelines, and payer policies to ensure compliance Skills • Extensive experience with Athena and Privia EHR systems for billing and coding workflows • Strong knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding standards, and DRG classifications • Proficiency in medical terminology, medical records management, and documentation review • Ability to interpret complex medical records accurately for coding purposes • Familiarity with medical billing processes, insurance claims submission, and collections management • Understanding of medical office operations and workflow optimization • Excellent attention to detail combined with strong organizational skills • Knowledge of EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems and EHR (Electronic Health Records) platforms Join us if you're passionate about leveraging your coding expertise in a fast-paced healthcare environment!
