Are you living your life's work? Summary: • *HOURS: Monday-Friday between the hours of 0730 - 1700. There are no weekends or on-call. This is not a remote position, it is completely onsite.** + Position Summary: + The Lead Procedure Scheduler schedules patients for surgery or specialty procedures, maintains an understanding of the procedures being performed, and schedules each procedure in accordance with the operating and or managing physician’s schedule. This role is responsible for functioning as the first point of contact for assisting, guiding and training Procedure Schedulers. The Lead role is responsible for schedule creation and maintenance. + Qualified individuals must have the ability with or without reasonable accommodation to perform the following duties: + Assist Procedure Schedulers in resolving any issues. + Supply periodic departmental updates to Practice Manager. + Provide ongoing training, feedback, and orientation to all Procedure Schedulers. + Serve as the first line resource for any inquiries from internal customers. + Schedule patients for procedures in accordance with the operating physician’s, surgical assistants, and other surgical specialists’ schedules if necessary. + Ensure that insurance company, patient, and referring physician’s facility and timeframe preferences are taken into consideration. + Obtain necessary procedure pre-authorizations. + Communicate with accounts receivable on self-pay patients. + Maintain knowledge of the various procedures performed in order to accurately answer patient questions pertaining to their procedure. + Explain the Informed Consent paperwork to the patient and obtain proper signatures. + Prepare all surgical procedure orders. + Verify all required tests needed prior to surgery are complete. + Thoroughly direct patients on all pre-surgical instructions i.e. time to arrive, food and drink intake instructions, etc . + Assist Practice Manager in the interview process of hiring Procedure Schedulers. + Work with physicians and management to review and improve overall departmental operations. + Handle all scheduling and delineation of duties for Procedure Schedulers. + The following duties are considered secondary to the primary duties listed above: + Other duties as assigned. Responsibilities: + Minimum Required Qualifications: + High School diploma or equivalent + Experience working in a business or medical office setting. + Basic computer skills. + Strong communication skills. + A health care provider in good standing with Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal and state health insurance programs, i.e. not excluded from participation in Medicare, Medicaid or any other federal or state health insurance program.
