Creative Werks is seeking an Industrial Packaging Designer to join their Design R&D team. This role involves creating innovative packaging solutions for top CPG brands, supporting collaboration with cross-functional teams, and driving strategic innovation internally.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop conceptual packaging formats within the snacks and confections industry that fulfill a specific occasion and need for the consumer
- Create placeholder graphics utilizing client assets or new creations for outbound pitch opportunities primarily for tradeshows, conferences, prospect pitches, and/or in-house support
- Lead communication with packaging suppliers for primary and secondary packaging to obtain, file, and organize packaging quotes
- Help conduct market research at retail outlets collecting and scanning data to present to clients
- Assist with the preparation and organization of technical data and die lines
- Make revisions and suggestions to size, shape and arrangement of parts to create a feasible and cost-effective packaging solution
- Manage safety testing of creative werks' manufactured packaging
- Participate and/or lead packaging based brainstorming sessions internally and with clients
- Support Packaging Engineer with continuous improvement initiatives
- Oversee management of mockups, prototypes and sale samples for internal teams and clients, along with in-house 3D printer for internal and external requests
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Packaging, Product Design or related discipline with 0-2 years of industry experience; 5+ years related industry experience in lieu of degree
- Experienced and knowledgeable in Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Illustrator and Photoshop)
- Demonstrated use in 3D CAD software and rendering packages such as SolidWorks, ArtiosCAD, Autodesk Fusion or Adobe Substance 3D
- Sound verbal and written communication skills
- Understanding of the co-packing and manufacturing process to design cost effectively and strategically
- Fosters a self-starter approach, collaboration, curiosity, problem-solving and solutioning new challenges
- Attend all food safety training sessions (GMP, SQF, HACCP, Allergen, Food Facility Security, Preventing Foodborne Illness)
- Participate in company GMP walks
- Enforce company rules regarding food safety and monitoring
