We are now seeking a highly motivated and experienced Full-Time Developer/Employment Specialist to join our team and help us make a meaningful difference in the lives of our members.
About the Position
As a Developer/Employment Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in creating competitive employment opportunities for adults and high school students with developmental and other disabilities. This involves establishing and maintaining business relationships with employers to secure job placements that align with our members' career goals and choices. Your efforts will be instrumental in helping our members achieve their employment aspirations and integrate into the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop competitive, community employment opportunities based on member career goals and choices.
- Establish a minimum of six in-person employer contacts weekly through face-to-face visits, telephone calls, meetings, networking, and other job development activities.
- Conduct in-person intake meetings with new caseload clients for employment services.
- Create job orders and coordinate interview schedules as part of the job match process.
- Follow up on all employer contacts to ensure successful job placements.
- Participate in pre-employment meetings and provide guidance to staff and members on job market trends related to their employment goals.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employer files for the department.
- Meet or exceed departmental goals and outcomes based on contractual obligations with funding sources, including but not limited to DRS.
- Engage in ongoing training in the Individual Placements and Supports (IPS) employment model and implement its principles in your work.
- Become proficient in the use of Quantum and other required computer programs to efficiently manage caseloads and job placements.
- Complete QIDP responsibilities for a Job Placement caseload and successfully obtain certification as a Direct Support Professional (DSP).
- Represent the agency at community and business functions, promoting our mission and services.
- Communicate employer concerns and issues to supervisory staff, ensuring timely resolution.
- Attend staff, job development, marketing, and other assigned committee meetings to stay informed and contribute to team efforts.
- Conduct mock interviews for members to prepare them for real job interviews.
- Transport members to interviews when necessary, ensuring they have the support needed to access employment opportunities.
- Assist with employment onboarding, including advising on appropriate dress, grooming, and other aspects of professional presentation.
- Perform other related duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to achieving our mission.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- A High School diploma; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
- A minimum of one year of work experience in rehabilitation, job placement, or a related field; proven job placement experience is highly valued.
- A valid driver's license and the ability to travel as needed for departmental requirements.
- QIDP qualification is preferred, demonstrating your expertise in supporting individuals with disabilities.
While not mandatory, the following skills and qualifications are considered advantageous:
- Experience working with adults or high school students with developmental disabilities.
- Knowledge of the IPS employment model and its application in supporting individuals with disabilities.
- Proficiency in using software applications relevant to case management and job development.
