Job Summary
The FIU SAR Control Investigator Sr. is responsible for assessing SAR recommended cases received from the offshore team members. They will document findings, and provide feedback to offshore investigators. The incumbent shall make the decision on these cases for final SAR determinations. The FIU SAR Control Investigator is responsible for the preparation of the suspicious activity report narrative for all cases recommended for SAR filing by the offshore team, ensuring all relevant information is included in the SAR.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Evaluates SAR recommended cases from offshore investigators to ensure/determine, if SAR filing is warranted. Reviews SAR recommended cases from Offshore Investigators to ascertain accuracy and completeness. Analyzes activity identified, along with the information gathered and use sound judgement, decision-making skills and discretion in making reasonable determinations in case investigations performed.
- Analyzes information identified/provided to ensure the correct transactions and subjects are being reported in the Suspicious Activity Report. Reviews activity being deemed suspicious and make adjustments, as necessary.
- Documents quality review of SAR Recommended cases. Completes Case checklist to document findings/deficiencies on SAR recommended cases. Provides feedback, as needed, to Offshore Investigators and FIU Management on the results of the quality review to encourage team members to follow methods and procedures, while ensuring quality and efficiency of production. Includes information on general tracking log to monitor team progress and identify training needs.
- Prepares SAR narrative. Reviews information obtained/identified and write a complete and accurate SAR Narrative. Identifies detail suspicious activity, investigation processes, location and timeline of activity, conductors of activity, and documentation available from investigation. Updates SAR form with Narrative and changes to SAR form fields, as necessary.
- Ensures all SARs are submitted for filing within regulatory (initial/90-day follow-up) and FIU Team SLA expectations. Prioritizes work as needed in order to meet deadlines.
- Escalates cases and provide supporting information to FIU Management to discuss case for change in recommended decision.
- Works closely with FIU Management to develop and recommend methods to enhance quality and efficiency of SAR Recommendation cases based on case review findings and observations.
- Each team member is expected to be aware of risk within their functional area. This includes observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations and risk limits specific to their role. Additionally, they should raise and report known or suspected violations to the appropriate Company authority in a timely fashion.
