Job Summary
We are looking for a highly qualified part-time Instructor, Economics to teach a variety of courses in economics, including online and hybrid courses. The successful candidate will have a strong background in economics, excellent teaching skills, and the ability to develop and deliver engaging curriculum. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and teach concepts and strategies for a variety of courses in economics, including online and hybrid courses
- Teach courses at MATC campuses, business, community, other sites, and online during the day, evening, and/or weekend
- Participate in department and advisory meetings, department and college functions, course and curriculum development, and staff development
- Conduct open labs (if/when necessary), student advising, student outcome assessment, and quality review assessment and implementation
- Support student organizations and activities, recruitment and retention of students, and other duties as assigned
- Maintain certification, continue professional development, and stay current in the field of economics
Essential Qualifications
- Master's degree in Economics, OR;
- Master's degree including at least 18 graduate course credits in economics from the Economics Department or from a closely related field defined as finance, banking, urban studies, economic history, political economy, industrial relations, business administration, economic geography, human resources management, or industrial sociology
- One full semester (or two quarters) of teaching at the college level that includes graduate school teaching assistantship
Preferred Qualifications
- Verifiable occupational work experience in a field other than education
- Experience in teaching, using, and/or developing curriculum in a variety of classroom environments, including face-to-face, blended, and 100% online
- Ability to develop and maintain curriculum currency
- Bilingual Spanish/English preferred
Skills and Competencies
- Working knowledge of computers and software related to instructional areas, including MS Office/Google Suite, data systems, mobile technologies, web conference tools, and social networking
- Knowledge of, or willing to learn, Blackboard or similar learning management system (LMS)
- Knowledge or experience with engaged and service learning
- Knowledge of assessment of student academic competency attainment
- Ability to relate successfully with students and staff of diverse cultural, social, and educational backgrounds
- Must embrace and demonstrate Standards of Teaching Excellence and the MATC Career Essentials in development and delivery of instruction
