Job Summary
We're seeking an experienced and skilled Aviation Maintenance Technician to join our Maintenance Programs Performance and Enhancement Team. As a Technical Advisor, you will play a critical role in driving a culture of safety, efficiency, and innovation by identifying opportunities and solutions to enhance our maintenance program and aircraft reliability. This hybrid position, based in Dallas, TX, requires employees to work at our Corporate Grounds at least three days a week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize aircraft operational knowledge to identify deficiencies and improve ETOPS and Reliability Maintenance programs
- Perform data collection, validation, and classification on data elements required by the Reliability Program, demonstrating sound judgment in selecting methods for acquiring and processing data
- Conduct root cause analysis on data of varying degrees to assess aircraft/fleet performance for safety, reliability, and financial impact, and identify shortcomings in the Maintenance Program
- Streamline processes by collaborating with colleagues and working with Clients and Management across various departments to rapidly communicate relevant issues and define, analyze, and deliver innovative solutions aligned with business objectives
- Work with individuals and groups across Tech Operations, various Departments, and external suppliers to identify and address adverse trends, assess the effectiveness of corrective measures, and provide detailed briefings to Southwest Senior Leadership
- Evaluate and apply performance standards and statistical analysis techniques, proposing changes on a case-by-case basis
- Examine ad-hoc requests resulting from emerging maintenance issues and provide suitable recommendations to Senior Management while balancing existing project commitments
- May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Managers
Requirements and Qualifications:
Essential Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; four-year degree or equivalent work experience in Aviation, Engineering, Mathematics, Business, Computer Science, or Statistics preferred
- Advanced experience and knowledge in:
- Using data to determine root cause analysis and problem-solving
- Project management or project consulting
- Designing, Reliability, or Aeronautics Technical Activities
- Skilled in assessing SWA and Industry practices and developing feasible solutions to gaps identified in standards, practices, or tools
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office products - Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Independent thinker who is not afraid to challenge the status quo, provoke thought, initiate debate, and make decisions, even in ambiguous situations
- Ability to lead moderate-level projects related to Six Sigma/Lean
- Ability to develop plans and schedules for projects, identify key stakeholders, and execute projects with minimal support
- Ability to communicate complex initiatives, issues, ideas, etc., into concise, easily understood updates and presentations
- Ability to participate in cross-functional initiatives and ensure Tech Operations targets and impacts are clear
- Ability to quickly recognize and clearly define complex issues to systematically investigate and gauge options to propose solutions
- Ability to identify and apply relevant FAA regulations, including AC 120-17B Maintenance Control by Reliability Methods, AC120-16G Air Transporter Maintenance Programs, 14 CFR 121.373 Continuing Inspection and Observation, 14 CFR 121.374 (h) MSG-3 based Airplanes Maintenance Programs, and FAA Assessor's Handbook
- Broad knowledge of IP44 strategies for developing and advancing planned maintenance programs
- Ability to effectively listen to, understand, and communicate ideas and present information in writing, verbally, or through presentations delivered to groups of varying audiences
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of SQL, Scene, and Alteryx
