About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and passionate Substitute Teacher to join our team in Elizabeth, NJ. As a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students, while also gaining valuable hands-on teaching experience. Our Substitute Teachers are the backbone of our organization, and we are committed to providing them with the tools, support, and resources they need to succeed.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach a variety of subjects, including math, science, English, and social studies, to students of different ages and skill levels
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to the needs of diverse learners
- Manage classroom behavior and create a positive learning environment
- Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents to ensure seamless continuity of education
- Be flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to think on your feet
- Collaborate with other educators to share best practices and improve student outcomes
Essential Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you will need:
- An Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits
- Three professional references, with at least one from a previous direct supervisor
- A NJ Substitute Credential
- A background check and TB risk assessment (we will cover the cost of this)
- Full COVID-19 vaccination
- A passion for education and a commitment to putting students first
- An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be
Preferred Qualifications
While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable:
- Previous teaching experience, particularly in a substitute or support role
- Special education training or experience working with students with diverse needs
- Knowledge of trauma-informed teaching practices and classroom management strategies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, teachers, and parents
