About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Substitute Teacher to join our team in Summit, New Jersey. As a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students and gain hands-on teaching experience on your own schedule. We offer the highest pay rates among substitute providers, with up to $190 for day-to-day assignments and more for long-term assignments. Our goal is to support you every step of the way, providing you with the tools and resources you need to excel in the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach a variety of subjects, including math, science, English, and social studies, to students of different ages and skill levels
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to the needs of diverse learners
- Manage classroom behavior and create a positive learning environment
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff
- Be flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced educational setting
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge
Essential Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- An Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits
- Three professional references, with one from a previous direct supervisor
- A New Jersey Substitute Credential
- A background check and TB risk assessment (we'll cover the cost of this)
- Full COVID-19 vaccination
- A passion for education and putting students first

Preferred Qualifications
While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:
- Experience working with students of different ages and skill levels
- Knowledge of special education principles and practices
- Experience with classroom management and behavior modification techniques

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances
