Location: Benicia, CA (On-site; occasional flexibility as needed) Type: Full-time, Exempt (Leadership) About Us TJF Ventures LLC operates the Fitness Superstore and French Fitness brands. We sell commercial-grade gym equipment nationwide, including new French Fitness products and a significant remanufactured/refurbished equipment line. Our operations include warehousing, shipping (including freight/LTL), quality control, and remanufacturing in Benicia, CA The Role We’re hiring a hands-on COO to own day-to-day operations and build a scalable operating system across warehouse, inventory, shipping, QC, supply chain coordination, and customer experience. This role is for an operator who can execute on the floor, build repeatable workflows, and deploy practical automation/AI to reduce friction and drive speed + accuracy. What You’ll Own - Run daily operations across inbound receiving, put away, inventory accuracy, picking/packing, shipping coordination (parcel + LTL), and final QC. - Build and enforce SOPs, role clarity, and accountability cadences (daily/weekly operating rhythm). - Lead inventory discipline (locations, scanning compliance, cycle counts, shrink/damage controls). - Improve order cycle time, on-time ship rate, and reduction of exceptions/holds. - Partner with supply chain/factory coordination to ensure documentation, labeling/packaging standards, and inspection requirements are met. - Implement practical automation and AI-enabled workflows: - Exception routing (order holds, missing info, damage claims) - Ticket triage / macros / knowledge base support - Reporting dashboards and KPI visibility - Process documentation (SOP drafting and maintenance) - Partner with our recruiting lead (internal) to define scorecards and hire key roles; you will not be the primary recruiter. What Success Looks Like (First 90 Days) - A clear operating cadence with weekly KPIs and owner accountability. - Inventory accuracy improves measurably; fewer “can’t find it” moments. - Faster, cleaner pick/pack/ship flow with fewer exceptions and rework. - 3–5 automations deployed that eliminate recurring manual work and reduce errors. Requirements - 7+ years operations leadership in ecommerce / distribution / logistics / high-AOV fulfillment. - Proven experience improving warehouse execution, inventory accuracy, and shipping performance. - Strong process design + SOP discipline (you build systems that stick). - Practical automation experience (Zapier/Make/n8n, workflows, dashboards; comfort with AI tools for operations is a must). - Strong communication, high ownership, and comfort being on-site and hands-on. Nice to Have - WMS/ERP implementation or turnaround experience. - Experience with freight/LTL shipping, damage claims, and high-value shipments. - Experience in consumer goods with refurbishment/remanufacturing workflows.
