About the position The Billing Specialist position at All Faiths Children's Advocacy Center is a full-time role focused on managing medical billing and coding processes, particularly in a Behavioral Health environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate billing practices, verifying insurance coverage, and assisting clients with their billing inquiries. This role is crucial in supporting the center's mission to advocate for children and families affected by trauma, especially as the organization transitions to a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic model. Responsibilities Answer phone calls and greet clients/professionals in a courteous manner. , Contact new and current clients to verify insurance coverage information. , Respond professionally to emails from clinical staff and insurance representatives. , Daily computer entry of new client or insurance information into the database. , Assist Front Desk Admins in client insurance verification and billing order. , Ensure accuracy of insurance files and notes, including copay amounts and prior authorization details. , Assist clients with applications under the CCBHC Sliding Fee Scale Discount program. , Daily error checking of all claims before submission. , Verify that primary, secondary, and tertiary payers are accurate. , Notify the CQI Department of non-insurance related errors. , Follow up on corrections in a timely manner. , Daily claim submission to government and private insurance carriers. , Respond to clearinghouse notices regarding claim submissions and rejected claims. , Weekly entry of insurance carrier remittance and other client payments. , Research and resolve client billing problems or issues. , Generate weekly aging reports and follow up on unpaid claims. , Prepare spreadsheets for insurance carrier representatives when claim issues arise. , Complete monthly billing and revenue reports to various outside entities. , Assist Finance Manager with monthly, quarterly, and fiscal year-end reconciliation of accounts receivable. Requirements High school diploma or GED required. , Minimum of 2 years' experience with medical billing and coding, preferably in a Behavioral Health environment. , Strong knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and Private Insurance practices. Nice-to-haves Working knowledge of HCPCS, CPT, and ICD-10 coding systems; coding or billing certification preferred. , Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
