The California Department of Justice is seeking an Analyst I to join the Bureau of Firearms. The role involves coordinating and reviewing firearm dealer inspection reports, maintaining program information, assisting with legislative analyses, and developing regulatory proposals. Responsibilities - Coordinating and reviewing firearm dealer inspection reports - Maintaining program information on the BOF webpage - Assisting with review of legislative bill analyses - Revising or assisting with the development of new regulations - Developing legislative proposals impacting regulatory programs and processes - Completing assignments including special reports - Gathering, reviewing and analyzing data and statistical information for responses to Public Record Act requests - Preparing responses to complex correspondence received from the state legislature, criminal justice agencies, special interest groups, etc - Communicating with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) investigators regarding inspection findings or referrals - Managing and maintaining the RCU SharePoint site - Working more than 40 hours a week as required - Occasionally traveling throughout California Skills - Under direct supervision of the Supervisor I, the Analyst I in the Bureau of Firearms (BOF), Regulatory Compliance Unit (RCU) is responsible for coordinating and reviewing firearm dealer inspection reports - Maintaining program information on the BOF webpage on the Attorney General's public website - Assisting with review of legislative bill analyses within the section - Revising or assisting with the development of new regulations - Developing legislative proposals impacting regulatory programs and processes on behalf of the RCU - Completing assignments including special reports - Gathering, reviewing and analyzing data and statistical information for responses to Public Record Act requests - Preparing responses to complex correspondence received from the state legislature, criminal justice agencies, special interest groups, etc - Communicating with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) investigators regarding inspection findings or referrals - Managing and maintaining the RCU SharePoint site - Working more than 40 hours a week in response to critical workload - Occasionally traveling throughout California Benefits - Work-life balance - 11 paid holidays - Flexible paid leave options - Consistent wage increases - Pension retirement - Job stability - Health/Dental/Vision Insurance - Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) and more!
