The opportunity
At Protecht, we believe that the future of risk management is intelligent, adaptive, and AI-driven. As an AI Engineer atProtecht, your mission is to redefine how organizations manage risk by embedding intelligent, autonomous, and conversational AI capabilities into our enterprise platform, Protecht.ERM.

You will play a pivotal role in designing and delivering next-generation AI features that empower users to make smarter, faster, and safer decisions.

Located in our central Sydney office (hybrid work from home option available) and reporting to our Head of Business Delivery you will drive the delivery of AI projects across the business.


What you'll Do

• Collaborate with product managers, analysts, and engineers to define and deliver impactful AI use cases.
• Architect and implement scalable Generative AI features, including agentic workflows, conversational AI, and autonomous agents.
• Integrate AI into our enterprise stack using ReactJS (frontend) and Java (backend).
• Leverage AWS Bedrock services (Agents, Flows, Knowledge Bases, Guardrails, etc.) to build secure and compliant AI solutions.
• Apply best practices in AI security, including mitigation of hallucinations, prompt injection, and bias.
• Mentor engineers and champion excellence in AI development.
• Conduct code reviews, troubleshoot complex issues, and ensure high-quality, maintainable code.

What you’ll bring

• 2+ years of hands-on experience in Generative AI and Agentic AI development.
• 5+ years in commercial SaaS product development using Java, ReactJS, and modern databases.
• Deep knowledge of RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), vector databases, and custom embeddings.
• Proficiency in prompt engineering, benchmarking, and AI performance optimization.
• Strong understanding of AI ethics, governance, and security risks in enterprise environments.
• Experience with LangChain, OpenAI APIs, or similar LLM frameworks (highly desirable).
• Familiarity with Spring Framework, Microservices, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
• Experience with Bitbucket, DevOps, and cloud infrastructure.
• Passion for solving complex problems and driving innovation in AI.
• Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related fields
