Accountant (Remote LATAM)

Job title: Accountant (Remote LATAM) in Canada - USA at Somewhere Company: Somewhere Job description : Working Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM PST Compensation: Competitive, based on experience Holidays: All local holidays + 2 weeks annual leave Role Overview: Advanced Accountant (Remote) We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Advanced Accountant to support the day-to-day financial operations and bookkeeping across a portfolio of online businesses. These include SaaS, eCommerce, agency, and consulting service entities based in Canada and the United States. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in North American accounting practices and experience managing financial operations for multiple subsidiaries. Prior remote experience with a North American accounting firm is strongly preferred. Key Responsibilities: Transaction Processing: Manage high volumes of financial transactions, including intercompany fund transfers and ad spend-related payments using multiple payment methods. Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process incoming and outgoing payments with accuracy and timeliness. Client Billing & Collections: Initiate and track payment requests from clients, particularly related to advertising spend. Wire Transfers & Credit Card Payments: Execute and monitor payments to ensure deadlines are met. Monthly Bookkeeping: Maintain up-to-date books across multiple entities. Payroll Processing: Administer payroll for employees in the Philippines and North America. Invoice Management: Generate and dispatch invoices across all business units. Payment Oversight: Monitor and ensure the timely completion of all payment requests. Mailbox Management: Oversee multiple mailboxes, ensuring financial tasks across subsidiaries are handled efficiently. Compliance & Risk Management: Work within complex industries (e.g., gambling, cannabis, psychedelics) to ensure regulatory compliance and mitigate payment processing risks. Qualifications: Experience: 3–5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience. Prior remote work for a North American accounting firm is a strong asset. Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A solid understanding of accounting principles is required; tax experience is a plus. Industry Knowledge: Experience in marketing, advertising, or regulated industries (e.g., gambling, cannabis, psychedelics) is highly desirable.
