Cloud Engineer (GCP / DevOps)

Remote Full-time
The Cloud Engineer will be responsible for the design, deployment, and operational excellence of the UrineSense DaaS platform's underlying infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This role focuses on building a highly reliable, scalable, and secure environment that supports multi-tenancy, real-time data ingestion, and PHI compliance (HIPAA/GDPR). Key Responsibilities ● Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop and maintain all cloud infrastructure using Terraform, ensuring the environment is reproducible, auditable, and adheres to strict security standards (e.g., CIS benchmarks). ● Platform Deployment: Deploy and manage core services, including Cloud Healthcare API, Cloud Pub/Sub, Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, and BigQuery. ● Networking & Security: Configure secure network topologies using VPC Service Controls to create security perimeters around PHI data. Manage IAM roles, encryption keys (KMS), and firewall rules. ● CI/CD & DevOps: Implement and manage continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using Cloud Build, enabling fast, safe, and automated deployment of microservices (FHIR Translation Engine, Consent Service) to Cloud Run. ● Monitoring & Observability: Establish comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting using Cloud Monitoring and Cloud Logging to ensure high availability and meet stringent Service Level Objectives (SLOs) for the DaaS platform. ● Scalability: Design Pub/Sub topics and microservice autoscaling policies to handle millions of real-time data ingestion events from UrineSense devices globally. Required Qualifications ● Experience: 5+ years in cloud engineering or DevOps, with 3+ years specifically on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). ● GCP Services: Expert proficiency with core GCP services (VPC, Pub/Sub, Cloud Run, BigQuery, IAM, Cloud Build). ● DevOps Tools: Expert in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform is mandatory) and CI/CD best practices. ● Security & Compliance: Demonstrated experience implementing cloud security controls for regulated environments (HIPAA BAA requirements, data isolation, encryption at rest/in transit). ● Networking: Strong foundation in cloud networking, firewalls, and data egress controls. Preferred Qualifications ● GCP Professional Cloud Architect or Professional DevOps Engineer certification. ● Experience in configuring and optimizing the Google Cloud Healthcare API. ● Proficiency in Python or Go for writing service definitions and automation scripts.
